Stories of Italy x diptyque

Revisiting tradition and modernising it is the driving force behind the creative duo "Stories of Italy". Created in Murano, the Macchia su Macchia technique makes it possible to create shimmering coloured glass objects. Mouth-blown and hand-finished, each piece is unique, this reversible piece was designed from the 190g spotted candle holder, on which a vase was welded during the melting of the glass. A dual-use item that can be returned from one day to the next as desired.

Craftmanship

The designer duo Matilde Antonacci and Dario Buratto form "Stories of Italy" and revisit Venetian craft heritage to create contemporary pieces. For diptyque, they are developing an exclusive collection of cups and vases reinterpreting the glass technique Macchia su Macchia, which means layer on layer. The coloured pattern is created by the successive application of pigments and coloured glass shards where opacity and transparency are mixed. This technique also evokes the marbles and mosaics in vogue in ancient Italy.
