This pattern painted in gouache was imagined for furniture fabrics to be sold at diptyque’s flagship boutique at 34 boulevard Saint-Germain.
With its tones of vibrant blues, it brilliantly echoes the joy-filled, graphic play of Moroccan Zellige mosaics of the ancient Roman and Byzantine empires. Fascinated by the infinitude of possibilities of their patterns, Christiane Gautrot designed entire decorating schemes around this theme.
