you will discover different worlds. Our founders, Christiane Montadre, Desmond Knox-Leet and Yves Coueslant, loved creating stories and playing with colors and patterns. And for 60 years, we have followed in their footsteps. Always moving forward.
02. Secret
An oval can hide another and another.
At diptyque, we have a wonderful playing field. It’s our oval and a place where we love to make letters dance and create stories. It’s a pattern inspired by our travels to Greece, and a window we share with you, so that you can watch over this magical world and get swept away in daydreams.
Like an olfactory portrait....
Orphéon takes you back to the environment of an emblematic place in Paris in the 1960s. The comfort of patinated wood, the vapours of alcohol, the musky linger of the make-up powder from the artists and their muses... Everything is present, in a floral and bright woody scent. The magic of a composition mixes the heat of the tonka bean, the depth of cedar, the richness of jasmine and the vivacity of juniper berries.
It all started at 34...boulevard Saint-Germain.
That’s where Christiane Montadre-Gautrot, Yves Coueslant and Desmond Knox-Leet founded diptyque. We’re in the 1960s, a world of lively debate and café life, in the heart of the Latin Quarter. And we follow three night owls, friends, artists. In Paris, at diptyque.
From three, one.
Our story was born from a meeting between Christiane Gautrot, Yves Coueslant and Desmond Knox-Leet. Three cosmopolitan aesthetes united by their taste for creative encounters and their sense of beauty. A friendship that would turn into a unique adventure… And the rest was diptyque.
It’s the story of a musical perfume.
In the film “A Scent In A Song“, Olivier Pescheux, a perfumer, and Lewis OfMan, a musician, compose the inspirational music of Orphéon as a duet. They tune the notes to the percussions. Against the heady sounds of jazz and bossa nova, the night is a celebration.

Inspiration...
...Breath.
diptyque pays tribute to nature, an infinite source of inspiration for the Maison, dedicating to it the whole of its summer collection.
Simple, authentic nature, open onto the sea: that of the Mediterranean landscapes where Yves Coueslant and Desmond Knox-Leet, two members of the founding trio of diptyque, liked to unwind and from where, in 1960, they brought back a mass of materials and memories for their future creations and perfumes.

Seen from the air…
...Luke Edward Hall’s house is in the Cotswolds, in England. Seen from inside, it dominates the Mediterranean. Its history and its light. Its traditions and its colors. Solar. His collaboration with diptyque is self-evident.

Travel and art intersect…
…intertwined, they are never apart in the history of diptyque. Founders Desmond Knox-Leet, Yves Coueslant, and Christiane Montadre were inspired by cultures across the globe to nurture their creations. And this philosophy remains. It has inspired The Grand Tour, a maiden voyage. A meeting of minds.
Five artists,
Joël Andrianomearisoa, Johan Creten, Zoë Paul, Hiroshi Sugimoto, and Rabih Kayrouz have created five original works of art for a journey with five stop-overs: France, Venice, Greece, Japan, and Lebanon. All these artist editions have a perfume from elsewhere…a diptyque perfume.
02. Secret
It’s time for take-off: “Voyages Immobiles” begins. The first art exhibition of the Maison takes you from East to West through the eyes of nine reputed international artists and their works, created especially for the occasion. A maiden voyage open to the curious, the aesthetes, and the explorers.
“Voyages Immobiles” from September 10 to October 23, 2021, online on www.diptyqueparis.com and at La Poste du Louvre, 52 Rue du Louvre, Paris 75001. Free exhibition. Sign up online.
