Diptyque’s little stories

Message in a bottle

For the first fragrances, Desmond drew the feelings and memories that inspired him in panoramic illustrations. He then explored his creation, isolating details in the diptyque oval. A delicate souvenir that we discover on the back of the label when turning the bottle around, his message in the bottle.

3D Moodboard

When Yves and Desmond returned home from Greece, they brought with them their memories of wild fig groves and a unique gift for Christiane. In a box they combined little treasures that held their memories of their trip: a fig leaf, a shard of marble from the Acropolis, fragments of Mycenae ceramics, a seashell from their beach… Many years later, this delicate gift inspired the creation of Philosykos. The Eau de Toilette is a tribute to Desmond and his landscapes of the soul, his lasting gift to the Maison.

STORIES you'll love
Each Eau de Toilette has its own special scene, specific memory or imaginary journey that its corresponding drawing describes. A delicate secret from the perfumes author.

Do Son

As a child, Yves Coueslant, one of diptyque’s founders, spent his summers at a pagoda on the seaside that his father had built in Do Son’s Along Bay. Far from the humid heat of the large port in Haiphong, the air was cooler. The sea breeze carried with it the heady and slightly spicy scent of tuberoses, a favorite of his mother. Do Son is the embodiment of precious and persistent memories from a childhood spent in Indochina. Memories of flowers, hovering between refreshing and enveloping.

L'Ombre dans l'Eau

L’Ombre dans l’Eau is a romantic painting that narrates a story of daydreams from a summer moment on a calm river under a weeping willow. The inspiration for the scent happened when a friend of the founders noticed the alluring aroma of roses and blackcurrant berries on her hands after an afternoon in the garden. The scent was so surprising that the creators wanted to capture all of its dimensions: the herbaceousness of the blackcurrant leaves, the fruity acidulated accents of their buds and the floral intensity of the rose. It is a nature-filled moment to savor. In the Eau de Parfum variation the fragrance is denser and more sensual fragrance of a rose in full bloom.

L'Eau des Sens

L’Eau des Sens is a composition that creates confusion. It caresses the skin to the point that you imagine you can touch it. When you breathe in its scent, it mixes up your senses, making your mouth water as if it were an indulgent treat, awakening you with its freshness like the sound of a rushing waterfall. L’Eau des Sens owes its originality to the very idea behind its creation: bring together all the dimensions of bitter orange, from the roots to the top of the tree, including branches, leaves and fruit.

Philosykos

The memory of a Greek summer at Mount Pelion. To get to the sea, one needed to cross through a natural grove of wild fig trees. At its zenith, the sun warmed the earth and the dry wind carried the scent of the trees and their fruit. Philosykos is an ode to the entire fig tree: the green freshness of the leaves, the density of the white wood, the milky flavor of the figs. In the Eau de Parfum, the fig tree reveals itself differently. The flavor of the fruit takes a back seat to the white cedarwood. It celebrates the strength of the tree’s bark, warmed by the midday sun.
