Flora, the goddess of flowers, created the violet from the body of a butterfly. The symbol of modesty, it hides it's beauty under it's leaves.
The violet loves the Mediterranean climate and shady areas. Indigenous to the Nile Delta, it took root in the Grasse region in the 17th century and has thrived there ever since.
The great intensity of its fragrance strikes an interesting contrast with the tiny size of its blossoms. It initially gives off a powdery, iridescent floral note, and then lights up with the excitement of a slightly fruity, woody accord.
