Rose-scented Geranium

Message: True Friendship
The word geranium comes from the Greek geranos, meaning crane's bill, due to the shape of the fruit. For the Celtic people, the crane symbolized wisdom.
Endemic to South Africa, the rose-scented geranium, or pelargonium capitum, reached the Mediterranean shores in the 17th century. It is now primarily grown in Egypt where the armfuls of red leaves fill the marketplaces with their fabulous fragrance and the clamor of traders haggling over these treasures, year after year during peak harvest season.
The fragrant essence is drawn from the leaves of the geranium. Its aroma instantly whisks you off to the refreshing Mediterranean gardens where the scent of just-picked, crumpled leaves mingles with the delicate rosy notes.
